Karen Mahar, Director of the Ocean City Free Public Library (OCFPL) and her team, along with the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce, dignitaries and members of the business community, gathered Tuesday to celebrate the newly remodeled bookmobile.

“The Ocean City Free Public Library is thrilled with the fresh look of our bookmobile. The design was created by WiserLink and the work was completed by CarToyz in Egg Harbor Township,” Mahar said. The library would like to thank the Friends and Volunteers of the Ocean City Library for generously donating all the funds necessary to complete the transformation.”

Michele Gillian, Executive Director of the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce, said that the updated bookmobile looks wonderful. She noted that it is an important amenity for patrons in the community. She thanked Mahar and her staff for their dedication, saying that the Ocean City Free Public Library is a premier library.

City Council President Peter Madden led the countdown and Mahar used oversized scissors to cut the ceremonial ribbon to the applause of attendees.

The bookmobile makes stops throughout the community including at local preschools, the Ocean City Tabernacle Son Club, United Methodist Communities at The Shores, Bayview Manor, the City’s playgrounds, American Legion Post 524, the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Farmers Market and City sponsored events and parades.

The bookmobile will deliver library materials to shut-ins. For more information contact the library at (609) 399-2434.
