The tournament on Saturday, Sept. 19, brings more than 100 anglers to the city’s beaches.
About 20 fishing clubs are expected to participate in the competition, which will follow Association of Surf Angling Clubs rules. Individual anglers and teenagers are also welcome. Children younger than 16 may fish for free.
The entry fee is $80 for a six-member adult team or $15 for an adult competing individually. The city will provide one-day beach access for four-wheel-drive vehicles used by anglers. Fishing will take place on beaches south of 23rd Street.
Participants must report to Ocean City Intermediate School between 5:30 and 7 a.m. to check in and receive their assigned fishing locations. The first fishing session will run from 7:30 to 9 a.m., followed by a relocation period. The second session will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Lunch and an awards ceremony will follow at the school. Prizes will be presented to the top three teams and individual and youth winners.
