Ocean City this week launched a new system to direct visitors to available parking spots. The real-time guidance system directs motorists to paid municipal parking lots with open spaces through dynamic message boards and a mobile app.
Using sensors mounted in the city’s parking lots, the Ocean City Parking Spot Finder app delivers directions to drivers’ smartphones and available space counts to roadside displays.
“This is a continuation of the ‘Always a Spot in Ocean City’ campaign we started last year,” Mayor Jay Gillian said. “It should be a great convenience to our guests, and it’s a way to support our local businesses, maximize parking lot usage, and enhance traffic flow citywide. We’re always looking for ways to improve the Ocean City experience.”

Residents and visitors can download the app free on iOS and Android (search for “Ocean City Parking Spot Finder”), or simply look for digital signs along Ninth Street and at municipal surface lots in the Boardwalk district. For more information, visit www.ocnj.us/parking.
