The voting has ended. The results are in. Ocean City can add another award to a list of many, landing the No. 2 spot in the country for “Best Summer Travel Destination” in a USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards announced today, Wednesday, May 21.
An expert panel nominated 20 must-see places for a summer vacation. Nominations were carefully curated by a panel of subject matter experts and USA Today 10Best editors before being voted on by the public.
When the votes were counted, it was clear that Ocean City, “America’s Greatest Family Resort,” truly is a favorite summer destination, offering vacationers eight miles of pristine beaches, the bay and a 2.5-mile Boardwalk.
The winners of the “Best Summer Travel Destination” poll are ranked as follows:
1. Mackinac Island, Michigan
2. Ocean City, New Jersey
3. Catalina Island, California
4. Saratoga Springs, New York
5. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
6. Tybee Island, Georgia
7. Block Island, Rhode Island
8. Minneapolis, Minnesota
9. Cody, Wyoming
10. Amelia Island, Florida

Among other honors bestowed upon Ocean City, it has been named “Best Beach in America,” “Best Beach,” “Favorite New Jersey Beach,” and “Best East Coast Beach” in other polls. “America’s Greatest Family Resort” has also been recognized for its boardwalk, downtown, ecotourism, family destinations and women-owned businesses.
