Obituary For Edna May Schollenberger

Edna May Schollenberger, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2026, at the age of 94.

A lifelong member of the Catholic Church, her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her with grace, compassion, and unwavering love.

She was married to her beloved husband, Albert Schollenberger, for 71 years and 8 months. Those of us blessed to know her, know that Albert promised to love her forever—and their honeymoon will continue in heaven someday.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Ann Lemmerman.

She is survived by her loving children: James, Marjorie, Paul, David, Janice, and Susan: her devoted children in love, Ann, Timothy and Ernie, her cherished grandchildren: Julie, Jason, Rachel, Sarah, Matthew, Joshua, Christina, and Jenna: and four great-grandchildren.

May dedicated her life to serving others. For an extraordinary 55 years, she was a devoted 4-H Leader, shaping and inspiring generations of young people. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader for 7 years and leader of Webelo Boy Scouts, encouraging confidence, character, and community spirit in every child she guided. May started Storybook hour and volunteered countless hours to the Galloway and Somers Point Libraries.

She was a proud and active member of the Cologne Grange, as well as the State and National Grange, for 48 years, forming lasting friendships and contributing faithfully to her community.

Her commitment to service extended to her leadership roles as Secretary of the Arthur Rann PTA, Secretary of the Galloway Library Association, and Treasurer of local AARP Chapter 4191. She also served as a Board Member and Officer for the ARC for 8½ years and volunteered at the Betty Bacharach Rehabilitation Center, offering kindness and compassion to all she encountered. She was truly dedicated to community service in every sense.

Her professional and academic life reflected her love of learning and helping others. She worked as a Legal Secretary for RCA and later as an Assistant Librarian for the Galloway Township Library and Stockton State College Library. She also earned four college degrees from Atlantic Community College, a testament to her lifelong commitment to education.

Above all, she was a woman of deep faith whose life reflected kindness, strength, and devotion. Her family was her greatest joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church 591 New Jersey Avenue, Absecon, NJ 08201.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The ARC of Atlantic County or to local 4-H organizations in her memory.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the countless lives she touched and the love she so freely gave. May all find peace in the countless ways she has touched your lives.
