Clare E. Alcamo, a friendly, faith-filled, and selfless woman, was born on February 12, 1939, in Somerville, New Jersey, and she passed away on August 16, 2026, in Galloway, New Jersey.

Clare lived a life marked by devotion to God, love of family, and quiet acts of kindness that touched everyone around her. She was a Christian whose faith guided the way she cared for others, welcomed friends, and carried herself with grace. She attended Bound Brook High School and later built a long and dedicated career as an executive secretary for Ortho Pharmaceutical a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson, where she served faithfully for 26 years before retiring. Her work ethic, dependability, and warm personality earned the respect of those who knew her professionally, and she was admired for the pride she took in doing her work well.

Family was at the center of Clare’s life, and she treasured the bonds she shared with those she loved. She was preceded in death by her father, Maurizio Porto, her mother, Genueffa Porto, her husband, John Alcamo, her sisters Ellen Lombardi and Laura Velinsky, and her brother Guy Porto. She leaves behind cherished family members including her sister Jeanne Cassara, her brother-in-law Jimmy Cassara, her niece Janine Buckner, her nephew Jimmy Cassara, her son Paul Winkworth, her daughters-in-law Marcela Winkworth and Sarah Winkworth, her granddaughter Rachel Winkworth, her grandson-in-law Kevin Cabana, her great-grandson Kevin Cabana Jr., her great-granddaughter Raelynn Cabana, her granddaughter Taylor Declement, her grandson Dean Winkworth, her nephew Robert Counts, and his wife Phyllis Counts. Each of them carries forward a part of the love, strength, and example she shared so generously throughout her life.

Clare found great joy in the simple and meaningful rhythms of home and family life. She loved cooking and hosting dinner for her family and loved ones, and her table was a place where people felt welcomed, nourished, and cared for. She was known for always cleaning her house until it was spotless, reflecting the pride she took in her home and the comfort she created for those who entered it. She also loved jazz music and enjoyed going to hear her husband and grandson play the drums, cherishing those moments of music, companionship, and shared happiness.

Her faith was not only something she believed, but something she lived. For 25 years, Clare was devoted to Beacon Church, where she served as head greeter and organized the people who welcomed churchgoers at the door. She understood the importance of greeting others with kindness and making them feel seen, valued, and at peace as they entered the house of the Lord. Her service to the church was an extension of her heart, and it reflected the warmth and generosity that defined her life.

Those who knew Clare will remember her as a woman who gave of herself freely and who made others feel loved through her words, her actions, and her steady presence. She was a blessing to her family, her church, her coworkers, and her community. Her life was a beautiful witness to faith, humility, and devotion, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Though her earthly journey has ended, Clare’s memory remains a source of comfort and gratitude. She lived with purpose, served with joy, and loved with an open heart. In the sure hope of the Christian faith, her loved ones trust that she now rests in the eternal peace of her Lord and Savior.
