Nick and Lauren Deckard, owners of The Board Room, located at 1123 Asbury Avenue, the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce, dignitaries and members of the business community, gathered Thursday, July 10, for a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially celebrate the opening of the game store.
The Board Room, which opened in May, is a place where you can stay and play, enjoy a class and purchase games. Nick and Lauren Deckard, whose children, Silas, 8, and 2-year-old Quinn, were also in attendance, describe their shop as a “throwback to the kind of fun that happened around table, not on a screen.”
The Board Room is “filled with a library of board games and puzzles in a screen-free space designed to help families slow down and create new traditions,” the Deckards said.
Michele Gillian, Executive Director of the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce, thanked the Deckards for providing a wonderful new family-friendly shop for all ages to enjoy and for investing in Ocean City.
Assemblyman Antwan McClellan and Cape May County Commissioner Bob Barr each presented proclamations to the Deckards wishing them much success.
Mayor Jay Gillian counted down and Silas cut the blue ribbon to the applause of the crowd who snapped photos and took videos.
