One of my favorite things about living at the Jersey Shore is that every town has its own personality and atmosphere. Brigantine is no exception. Often known for its quieter beaches and laid-back vibe just outside Atlantic City, the island is also home to an incredible mix of restaurants, cafés, bakeries and local favorites. Whether you’re fueling up before a beach day, grabbing lunch after a morning on the boat or ending the evening with dinner overlooking the ocean, Brigantine has something for every craving. Here are some of my favorite places to stop whenever I’m on the island.
If you’re looking for tropical vacation vibes without ever leaving New Jersey, LaScala’s Beach House is the place to go. Located directly on the beach, it’s one of those restaurants where you can truly slow down, listen to the waves and enjoy an ocean breeze with an ice-cold drink in hand. The beachfront setting almost makes you forget you’re still in New Jersey.
One thing I appreciate most is the variety on the menu. Whether you’re craving sushi, pizza, pasta, seafood or a chicken entrée, everyone in your group can usually find exactly what they’re in the mood for.
Personally, my favorite time to visit is around sunset. Ordering a few appetizers, enjoying a drink and watching the sun set over the ocean is one of my favorite ways to unwind after a busy summer day.
Sometimes you’re simply looking for a restaurant that feels familiar, where everyone feels welcome and the menu has something for every member of the family. That’s exactly how I feel about Brigantine Bistro.
The atmosphere is casual while still serving quality food throughout the day. Whether you’re stopping in for breakfast before the beach, grabbing lunch with friends or enjoying dinner after a long day in the sun, the menu offers everything from omelets and wraps to burgers and Mexican-inspired favorites.
My personal favorite is the shrimp tacos. They’re flavorful, filling and the perfect meal before heading to the beach or after spending the day soaking up the sun.
It’s the kind of neighborhood restaurant that locals continue returning to because it’s dependable, welcoming and consistently good.
Every beach town needs a great coffee shop, and Summer & Sage Coffee is one of those places that makes mornings a little brighter.
Whether you’re heading out for an early beach walk, starting your workday or simply need your daily caffeine fix, it’s an easy stop.
As someone who enjoys a good latte just as much as the atmosphere of a coffee shop, Summer & Sage Coffee checks both boxes. I’ve stopped in to unwind with family, catch up with friends or simply grab a latte before heading to the beach. No matter the reason, it always feels welcoming.

The fun atmosphere and stylish décor make it feel like one of those cafés everyone wants to visit. Beyond coffee, they serve specialty lattes, matcha, dirty sodas and rotating seasonal drinks.
As a matcha lover, this has become one of my regular stops. More often than not, I’m ordering an iced matcha, although their specialty lattes never disappoint either. They also offer creative matcha flavors that put a unique twist on a classic favorite.
It’s a great place to meet a friend, catch up over coffee or enjoy a slower start to the day.

Whenever we’re spending time in Brigantine, breakfast here is usually our first stop. Their portions are generous, the meals are hearty and it’s exactly the kind of breakfast that keeps you full for a long day at the beach.
The menu features classic American breakfast favorites, including pancakes, omelets and sandwiches, while adding subtle Mediterranean influences throughout.
I also enjoy visiting their Ocean City location, so stopping into the Brigantine restaurant always feels familiar. It’s one of those places where you know you’re going to leave happy and full.
No visit to Brigantine feels complete without stopping at Aversa’s Italian Bakery.
Whether you’re satisfying a sweet tooth or picking up dessert for a family gathering, the bakery offers an incredible variety of pastries, cookies, cakes, breads and Italian specialties.
One thing many people overlook is the deli. From prepared chicken dishes and homemade pasta to strombolis, fruit trays and meat-and-cheese platters, it’s a great place to pick up dinner without having to cook.
My family has done this many times after a long beach day. We’ll grab one of their prepared meals along with a box of cookies, making dinner easy so we can relax and enjoy the evening together.
Pirates Den has built a loyal following over the years, and it’s easy to understand why.
Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, it’s one of those dependable neighborhood restaurants where there’s always something new to try thanks to the daily specials.
Breakfast features fun pancakes and hearty omelets, while lunch includes sandwiches and salads. Dinner offers everything from mozzarella sticks and calamari to burgers, seafood and classic Italian pasta dishes.
If you’re dining with family or friends who all want something different, Pirates Den is a great option because there’s truly something for everyone.
Nothing says Jersey Shore quite like ending a beach day with pizza.
McHugh’s has become one of those classic Brigantine stops that locals and visitors alike continue returning to. Their pizzas are generously topped, satisfying and perfect for sharing after a day in the sun. Plus, there’s something nostalgic about everyone gathering around a pizza after the beach, sharing stories and ending the day with plenty of laughs.
If you’re planning a beach day, boat day or picnic, Ernest & Son should definitely be on your list.
Their sandwiches are packed with flavor and generously portioned, with everything from breakfast sandwiches and cheesesteaks to burgers, chicken cutlets and eggplant specialties. They also offer catering options for larger gatherings.
It’s one of my favorite places to grab lunch before heading to the beach because everything travels well and always hits the spot. There’s just something about eating a really good sandwich on the beach that makes summer at the Jersey Shore even better.
