Tune In, Turn On With Doug Deutsch
Riddle me this: What’s half party and half craft market, features live music, top-tier DJs and is completely free to the public before 8 p.m.? The answer: Noetrope Night Market, happening this Friday, May 15 at the (almost) world-famous Anchor Rock Club in Atlantic City.
“Night Market is a world we invent based on a theme, and our first chapter, Monkey Temple, brings us back to our time in the jungle swinging from the trees,” said Noetrope founder, Tina Notaro. “We create this atmosphere through scenic design and encourage everyone to dress up and play the part.”
The word Noetrope refers to states of insight that are often described as spiritual or mystical, connecting us to the beyond and before, Notaro said.
“In a world saturated by the artificial, these are the experiences that feel real,” she said. “That is what we create.”
Notaro is no stranger to this column. We’ve been promoting her many A.C. events since I started writing for Shore Local in the fall of 2022.
“Monkey Temple will feature two live sets by sequined strutters Mums The Word – Philadelphia’s costumed jam band blending funk, rock, reggae and hip-hop – plus ones and twos by Atlantic City’s Weekday Underground crew, a live drumming set by DJ HA, and big party vibes from DJ Frosty of Big Puffy Yellow and Lobster B,” added Notaro.
“Half party, half craft market, these themed gatherings feature live music and DJs with hyper-local vendors who create custom and unique creations of all kinds, including original artwork, vintage wares, jewelry, accessories, apparel, skincare, spiritual and wellness services, baked goods and more. Flow arts welcome and costumes are encouraged.”
It should be a blast!

Don’t forget, come early (at least before 8 p.m.) for free admission. Doors open at 7 p.m. Shop with and support local artist vendors. Anchor Rock Club is located at 247 S. New York Ave. See anchorrockclub.org.
Tune-Ups
Toni Teschner from the Billy Walton Band will perform at Josie Kelly’s for the Tony Mart Kickoff Party Thursday.
Memorial Day weekend is less than three weeks away, which means the fabled Tony Mart Presents concerts in Somers Point and Atlantic City are just ahead.
To help get the proverbial party started, there’s a Good Times in the Old Point Free 2026 Season Kickoff Party 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at Josie’s Kelly’s Public House in Somers Point featuring some of our area’s most familiar performers including Danny Eyer, Rich “Megahurtz” Kurtz, “Big Bob” Ernano, Brandon Ireland and two members of the Billy Walton Band – Billy and Toni Teschner – who recently returned from another successful Billy Walton Band tour of Germany and the U.K. Many more musicians will be added to perform on this night.
