Absecon Mayor Tom Marrone visited the Third Grade students at H.A. Marsh Elementary School on Wednesday, Jan. 28 for an informative discussion about civics and how local government operates. Marrone’s visit coincides with the district’s social studies curriculum that focuses on the branches of government.

Absecon Superintendent Dr. Daniel J. Dooley welcomed the mayor and, within his introduction, spoke about the importance of civil service and Marrone’s rich history as an Absecon resident, student, and current business owner.

Marrone shared with the third graders about how Absecon’s local government operates, talked about the role of the mayor in the city of Absecon, and answered a plethora of questions such as why he wanted to be mayor, who is in charge of selecting the stores that are built in the city, and how the city government and the school’s governing body differ.
