Christmas came early for three nonprofits this week as Caesars, Harrah’s Resort and Tropicana Atlantic City surprised the organizations — The 200 Club of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, The Headstrong Project and Brighton Avenue School — with a combined $15,000 in donations.
Each nonprofit received $5,000 as part of the three Atlantic City resorts shared commitment to investing in and uplifting community organizations.
“The holidays can be an especially difficult time for families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty,” said Gregg Klein, senior vice president and general manager of Tropicana Atlantic City and president of the 200 Club of Atlantic and Cape May Counties. “Supporting the 200 Club is especially meaningful to me, and I’m proud that our team is able to give back to an organization that stands beside first responders and their families when they need it most.”
“Mental health challenges don’t pause for the holidays — in fact, this time of year can heighten them,” said Jacob Witmer, senior vice president and general manager of Caesars Atlantic City. “That’s why we’re proud to support The Headstrong Project and the meaningful impact they make in the lives of veterans and their families. Their work is essential, and we’re committed to standing with the veteran community during a time of year that can be especially challenging.”
“Ensuring local students have warm clothing during the winter months is a simple but powerful way to support families in our community,” said Joseph Giunta, senior vice president and general manager of Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City. “Brighton Avenue School plays an important role in caring for its students, and we’re honored to help provide resources that make a real difference for children in need.”
The Headstrong Project, a non-profit mental health organization, will use the funds to continue providing confidential, barrier-free and stigma-free PTSD treatment to veterans.
The 200 Club of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the families of police, fire and rescue personnel who have been injured or lost their lives in the line of duty or through meritorious actions, will apply the donation toward its financial assistance programs.
Brighton Avenue School, which serves students in pre-K through fifth grade, will use its gift to purchase warm clothing items such as shirts, coats and hats for students in need.
