Goodwill store in Egg Harbor Township set to re-open after arson fire

Goodwill Industries of Southern NJ & Philadelphia announced today that its Egg Harbor Township, NJ store (6701 Black Horse Pike) will re-open on Thursday, May 2nd at 9 am.

On January 15, a fire broke out inside the store. The site sustained extensive water and smoke damage and all merchandise was subsequently destroyed. Fire officials deemed it to be arson. The fire investigation is on-going.

“We are excited to be re-opening our Cardiff Plaza store,” said Goodwill President & CEO Mark B. Boyd. “We are incredibly grateful to the local community for helping us rebuild our inventory through their generous donations. Shoppers are in for a real treat.”

Since the fire, many individuals and companies have come forward to conduct donation drives for Goodwill including Hard Rock Café in Atlantic City; the Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce; AAA of South Jersey; and Miss Coastal Shore Ashley Campbell, a student at Rowan University.

In these tough economic times, Goodwill is also pleased to announce price drops at all of its stores on key items including men’s and women’s pants and short and long sleeve shirts.

Goodwill’s Egg Harbor Township Store & Donation Center will be open Monday – Saturday from 9 am – 7 pm and Sunday from 10 am – 6 pm.

The 20,000 square foot Egg Harbor Township Goodwill Store & Donation Center first opened its doors in March of 1997. As a nonprofit, community-based organization, Goodwill collects gently-used donated items and sells them to fund job training programs and career services that help local residents with disabilities and disadvantages get to work. For example, at Goodwill’s Helms Academy, one can earn their high school diploma and up to 30 college credits 100% tuition free.
