Free Streamed Recital Celebrating the Birth of Our Nation on July 4th

Historic Organ Restoration Committee will present a free broadcast recital on Saturday, July 4th at NOON on the Midmer-Losh pipe organ-the world’s largest musical instrument ever built with its 33,112 pipes. This recital is part of an ongoing broadcast series of the organs of Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall so that patrons can still enjoy the instruments while remaining socially distant.

Dozens of pipe chambers located behind grille screens in eight locations around the auditorium, including in the roof overhead.

Multiple organists including Monte Maxwell, Director of Chapel Music at the United States Naval Academy performing John Philip Sousa “The Stars & Stripes Forever” and Brett Miller, finalist for the American Theater Organ Society’s Young Organist Competition playing an Armed Forces Medley will present a half hour of patriotic music to celebrate Independence Day. This recital will be streamed via Facebook at the following page: www.facebook.com/boardwalkorgans at 12 NOON on Saturday, July 4th, 2020. The recital is made possible by funds from the Atlantic County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

About HORC: Historic Organ Restoration Committee is a 501c3 chartered by the state of New Jersey for the restoration and preservation of the two pipe organs of Historic Boardwalk Hall. In addition to the actual physical restoration of the instruments, HORC seeks to educate and increase awareness of the unique importance of these instruments as irreplaceable national treasures through programming and tours throughout the year. The large organ (main auditorium) is the world’s largest musical instrument; the smaller instrument (Adrian Phillips Theater) is one uniquely suited to the interpretation of silent film.
