The Levoy Theatre will present “Echoes of Service: A Community Tapestry,” a free concert honoring veterans, reservists, military families and their stories, on Friday, Oct. 23, at 6:30 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
The one-night event at the Millville theater will bring members of the South Jersey community together through music, storytelling, poetry and visual art.
The program was developed through a 16-week collaborative process and features a community choir composed of veterans, reservists, military families, community members and residents of the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home at Vineland.
The choir will be joined by the Woman’s Chorus of Millville, performers from the Swedesboro Performing Arts Academy and singers from area high schools. JROTC cadets will present the colors, and government officials will serve as featured speakers during the evening.
Artwork created in partnership with The Barn Studio of Art will form a community tapestry illustrating how military service touches individuals, families and generations. The piece will be displayed in the Levoy Theatre’s mezzanine, where organizations providing resources for veterans and their families will also be represented.
Free tickets will be available from Sept. 23 through Oct. 23. For tickets and additional information, visit levoy.net.
“Echoes of Service: A Community Tapestry” is supported by a $20,000 grant from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey through The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey.
The Levoy Theatre is a nonprofit performing arts venue in Millville that serves as an economic, educational, cultural and entertainment resource for the city and the broader South Jersey region.
