Egg Harbor Township, ‘The Heart of Atlantic County’

Estate Matters
By Elisa Jo Eagan

When we think of choosing a place to call home, to live, to plant seeds, to grow roots, to work, to thrive and to raise a family, so many factors come into the equation. We dream. We plan. We search and we research to create or find our own utopia.

You can find that utopia in Egg Harbor Township, located in “the Heart of Atlantic County,” and the place where I now call home.

With the beauty and enjoyment of the Great Egg Harbor River along our border, convenience of the Atlantic City International Airport in our center, our own military bases, including the 177th Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard and the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City to protect us, Egg Harbor Township is unique.

With the William J. Hughes Federal Aviation Technical Center and the National Aerospace Research and Technology Park (NARTP) employing many of our residents, Egg Harbor Township is home to a high-tech workforce.

It has senior communities like the 55 + Village Grande of Little Mill and English Mill; our own parks, recreation and community center; award-winning golf courses and homes; youth sports programs, Police Athletic League, and our own fully paid police force and dedicated volunteer fire departments; places of worship where we gather, numerous dedicated businesses and services and many other features that we enjoy, appreciate and love.

Our well-regarded public school system provides top-notch education for our children and grandchildren. Generations of successful, well-educated students have gone through Egg Harbor Township schools and have chosen to live and raise their families in the township, giving back to our community, and happily sending their children and grandchildren to the same schools that they successfully attended and graduated from.

Many neighborhoods of new construction homes have been built in the past few years and are continuing to be built to accommodate the strong demand for housing. New homes being built is a sign of a healthy real estate market, the backbone of a community and the economy.

During the pandemic, Egg Harbor Township became the sweet spot for many relocating from New York, North Jersey, Pennsylvania and other out-of-state purchasers wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of living and working in crowded cities to work from home.

Many relocated to Egg Harbor Township for a better life, to be closer to family, near Ocean City or their favorite beaches or to work in and around Atlantic City and the Atlantic County area.

New and existing real home values in Egg Harbor Township since 2020 have increased an average of 25-35 percent and up, building equity for homeowners.

Inventory of existing homes for sale is low and the demand for housing is stronger than ever. Buyers want to buy and own in Egg Harbor Township in all price ranges and in all neighborhoods. The desire to own, enjoy and experience Egg Harbor Township living is alive and well.

Egg Harbor Township is also rich in history. Since 1710 it has been built by talented, dedicated, caring people from all walks of life who have given of themselves to create a wonderful place for residents and their families for past, present and future generations.
