Egg Harbor Township High School is proud to present In the Heights, the electrifying, Tony Award–winning musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes. Performances will take place on March 13, 14, and 15 in the school’s Performing Arts Center.
Bursting with hip-hop, salsa, merengue, and soul, In the Heights tells the vibrant story of a tight-knit community in Washington Heights, a neighborhood in upper Manhattan, as they dream, hope, and navigate what it means to call a place “home.” At the center is Usnavi, a bodega owner with big aspirations and an even bigger heart, whose journey reminds us that family, culture, and community are the true foundations of success.
Winner of four Tony Awards®, including Best Musical, In the Heights helped launch the career of Lin-Manuel Miranda, who later created the global phenomenon Hamilton.
“This show is about belonging,” said Matthew Guenther, artistic director of the production. “Our students have embraced the music, movement, and the message of this story. It’s joyful, heartfelt, and incredibly relevant.”
The production features a cast, crew, and orchestra of nearly 100 students, with high-energy choreography, a live orchestra consisting of students and professionals, and colorful staging that brings the streets of Washington Heights to life. Audiences can expect show-stopping numbers like “96,000,” “When You’re Home,” and the title song “In the Heights.”
The production is rated PG-13. Performances are scheduled for March 13 at 6:30PM, March 14 at 2PM and 6:30PM, and March 15 at 2PM.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at ehths.booktix.com. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
