Custard Hut is proud to partner with the Somers Point Education Foundation to present the Custard Hut Fundraiser and Art Show, Thursday, June 12, from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
This special event will showcase artwork created by K–3rd grade students from Dawes Avenue Elementary School in Somers Point, with a portion of all sales going directly to support the Somers Point Education Foundation’s efforts to enhance student learning experiences.
The Somers Point Education Foundation is a community-based cooperative effort to identify, secure, and distribute resources to supplement and enhance the quality of education in the Somers Point School District. The artwork is part of a unique upcycling project, where students transform everyday trash into creative works of art. Designed to encourage environmental awareness and inspire young artists, the project aims to teach important lessons about pollution, upcycling, and caring for our planet.
As a family-owned business for over 48 years, The Plum Family, owners of Custard Hut, are deeply invested in the local community and are honored to support education programs that spark creativity and encourage sustainability. Through this collaboration, Custard Hut continues its commitment to championing the arts, education, and the future of Somers Point’s students.
The Plums are no stranger to community involvement, regularly hosting events throughout the season to benefit the communities of Somers Point and Ocean View. With community at the center of their business, the Plum family has mentored hundreds of young people as they navigate their very first job. They have provided opportunities for local residents and served up countless frozen treats–candy sundaes, chillies, banana splits, and gelati among them. They champion the community and collaboration as key ingredients to their success.
