Curtis Green, Help on the Way

Views from the Shore
By Brian Cahill

Like most marketing folks, I need to get into a zone when brainstorming an idea or writing a piece. Sometimes, it comes easily, and I can get right to it. Other times, I have a concept that’s 70 percent there but needs a little something to push it over the top. And like most people, sometimes I get stuck dealing with a personal or life issue, and I need that help getting to where I need to be. Lucky for me, I’ve got my friend Curtis Green.

Curtis Green is a hardworking, dedicated member of the Environmental Service team at Shore Medical Center. Since joining the hospital in 2006, Curtis has dedicated himself to ensuring Shore is pristine for patients, visitors, and his coworkers. “I love helping people, and that’s why I’m here at Shore,” said Curtis. “We are a team with one goal in mind, regardless of our particular job, and that’s to help our patients and visitors. I admire how we work as a team, and I always tell my coworkers, ‘If there is something I can do to help you, let me know.'”

I can personally attest he certainly backs his words with action. Every afternoon at 3:30, I can count on Curtis stopping by my office to see if anything needs to be done or if he can be of help. Over the years, we have developed a connection that has been an incredible help to me, both professionally and personally.

Professionally, Curtis has become my sounding board for ideas, no matter how off-the-wall they may be. In marketing, it’s helpful to get the perspective from someone who is not directly involved with the project. From his honest feedback, I have fine-tuned several marketing campaigns, and his insight has helped me promote our hospital’s wonderful services.

Personally, Curtis is warm and welcoming, the type of person people just feel comfortable opening up to. He has a broad perspective as a son, father, husband, and coworker, and he is open to sharing his personal thoughts and experiences. He is a calm voice in times of stress, reassuring in times of uncertainty, and friendly and joyous in times of celebration.

I’m far from the only one whose life at Shore has been impacted by Curtis. “Different people give different signals. I can tell when someone gazes in my eye if we have that connection. And when we do, it is definitely powerful.”

Curtis not only helps his coworkers, but he does so outside of the hospital as the owner, narrator, and writer of Voices Networking Ministries, which is available on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/VoicesNetworkingMinistries/) and YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@VoicesNetworking). “I minister to all types of people, young and old, and all sorts of professionals. There are so many challenges in this world, and many people are hurting and suffering. I minister through scripture, not my own personal ideas.”

Curtis added, “Life is serious business, and I want to help others in any way I can.”
