Beginning Monday, June 16, construction is scheduled at two county library branches.

The Galloway branch of the Atlantic County Library System, located at 306 E. Jimmie Leeds Road, will be closed temporarily for the installation of a new $2.5 million HVAC system.

“Our libraries are key components of our communities,” stated County Executive Dennis Levinson. “This is the fourth such project to improve the environment for our patrons and help us achieve greater energy and cost savings.”

Previous HVAC systems were installed in county library branches in Hammonton, Egg Harbor Township and Mays Landing. Partial funding was provided through NJ State Library Construction Bond Grants and American Rescue Plan monies.

While the Galloway library branch is not expected to reopen until the fall, the book drop box located in the front of the building will remain open during construction for the return of any borrowed materials.

During the closure, patrons are encouraged to visit any of the library system’s other nine branches. Visit www.atlanticlibrary.org for locations and hours or call (609) 625-2776, ext. 6304. Patrons may also access digital media services and databases 24/7 on the website.

Also beginning Monday, June 16, the elevator at the Mays Landing branch, located at 40 Farragut Avenue, is scheduled to be replaced. Patrons will be without its use for approximately six weeks.  Only stairway access to the community meeting room and adult collections on the second floor will be available during this time.

“We appreciate the public’s cooperation during these periods of temporary inconvenience,” said Levinson.
