City of Atlantic City Distributes More than 900 Thanksgiving Meals to Residents

The City of Atlantic City held a Thanksgiving Food Box Giveaway for residents in the City Hall Courtyard on Monday, November 20th. More than 900 turkeys and food boxes were distributed to the residents, who were asked to register in advance. Each box contained Thanksgiving staples such as stuffing mix, instant mashed potatoes, canned vegetables, and cranberry sauce.

The Food Box Giveaway was organized by the Atlantic City Senior Services division and the city’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Mayor Marty Small, Sr., members of the city’s Health and Human Services Department and members of the city’s Department of Public Works helped distribute the food. The Bangladesh Association of Atlantic County and Cedar Markets provided the turkeys and fixings.

Also, on Monday, the city partnered with Kelsey and Kim’s Southern Cafe for a Community Feed event at Soldier’s Home, where residents were invited to enjoy a free, hot meal on a first-come, first-served basis. Prior to that event, Kelsey’s owners Kelsey and Kim Jackson prepared hot meals for Atlantic City First Responders.
