June Byrnes, The Atlantic County Commissioner liaison to the Atlantic County Commission on Women, announced the launch of “Women of Wonder,” an initiative celebrating extraordinary women throughout Atlantic County who make a difference in the lives of others through service, leadership, compassion, and a commitment to their communities.
Women of Wonder will recognize women from across Atlantic County who give back in meaningful ways—whether through volunteerism, nonprofit work, education, business, public service, mentoring, supporting families, helping those in need, or simply making their communities stronger through their everyday actions.
“This program is about shining a light on the incredible women who are making a difference right here in Atlantic County,” said Commissioner Byrnes. “There are so many women who quietly give their time, talent, and heart to help others. Women of Wonder gives us an opportunity to recognize them, celebrate their accomplishments, and inspire the next generation of women to lead and serve.” For several years the Commission on Women has recognized women leaders in March during National Women’s History Month. This program will give us the opportunity to add another element that will support our students.
The initiative will have a scholarship component, partnering with the Atlantic Cape Foundation, funds raised through Women of Wonder will support scholarships for Atlantic County students attending Atlantic Cape Community College (ACCC). Women of Wonder began with the Cape May County Commission on Women and has had great success. They are happy that we are mirroring their program to help Atlantic County students. They are hosting the 2026 Women of Wonder Awards Luncheon on Thursday, November 12, 2026 at The Flanders Hotel in Ocean City. For more information about this event, please contact Chris Mularz at cmularz@atlanticcape.edu.
By combining recognition with opportunity, Women of Wonder will honor the women who have already invested in their communities while helping local students pursue higher education and build a brighter future close to home.
“Education changes lives, and investing in our students means investing in the future of Atlantic County,” Byrnes said. “We want Women of Wonder to be more than an award. We want it to create a lasting legacy—recognizing women who give back while giving our young people an opportunity to move forward.”
The Atlantic County Commission on Women will announce additional details about the nomination process, recognition event, sponsorship opportunities, and scholarship fundraising efforts in the coming weeks. One woman can make a difference. Together, Women of Wonder can make a lasting impact.
