Boxing is back at the Tropicana Showroom on Friday, November 13, and the top of the card is a New Jersey and New York triple threat: a grudge rematch for Atlantic City’s own Justin Figueroa, Jersey’s John “Body Shot” Leonardo in an eight-rounder, and a heavyweight fight with the Bronx’s George Arias.

The Rematch

Justin “Mr. Atlantic City” Figueroa (14-0, 11 KOs) has been waiting since March for this one. His main event against Luis Caraballo Ramos (8-10-1, 8 KOs) of Puerto Rico was turning into an all-out slugfest. Then it got too rough, and the fight was stopped in the third round and ruled a no contest.

Now they run it back over eight rounds at middleweight, in the same ring.

“These guys just did not like each other,” said promoter and Atlantic City native Larry Goldberg. “It was turning into an all-out slugfest, and it never got finished. So we are going to run it back.”

Figueroa is a Holy Spirit graduate and the Junior NABF super welterweight champion, and he has built most of his career in front of his hometown crowd at the Tropicana.

Leonardo Is Back

John “Body Shot” Leonardo (13-1-1, 6 KOs) of Manalapan Township is one of the most exciting fighters in the area, and he earns the nickname with picture-perfect precision to the body. He headlined the very first Boxing Insider card at the Tropicana in 2024. He faces Kevin Nunez (6-4, 3 KOs) of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, over eight rounds at 122 pounds.

Heavyweights

“We had to bring the big guys,” Goldberg said. “George Arias is looking for an explosive return.”

Arias (19-1-1, 7 KOs) of the Bronx meets Joe Jones (16-15-2, 10 KOs) of Lynchburg, Virginia, over eight rounds.

Pleasantville’s Own

Julio Sanchez III (5-1, 3 KOs) is a local fighter through and through, a product of the Pleasantville Recreation Center. He is one of the most popular fighters in the series, and Pleasantville always shows up for him. He returns in a four-round lightweight bout.

Also on the Card

Unbeaten NABF super featherweight champion Iman Lee (15-0-1, 8 KOs) of Yonkers makes his Atlantic City debut. Brooklyn’s Koby Khalil Williams (8-1, 6 KOs) faces Italy’s Luigi Caniglia (5-1, 1 KO). Jahanzeb Rizwan (3-0, 2 KOs) of the Bronx rounds out the night.

It is the last boxing show of the year in Atlantic City.
