Atlantic City International Airport (ACY) will conduct a full-scale Emergency Preparedness Exercise on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 7am to 1pm, as part of a federally mandated safety initiative.
This exercise, held every three years in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, is designed to evaluate emergency response procedures in the event of a large-scale aircraft incident. The drill will involve coordination among airport personnel and multiple agencies at the federal, state, county, and local levels.
The airport will remain open and fully operational during the exercise.
While no road closures are expected, motorists and residents may notice increased emergency vehicle activity—particularly along Tilton Road (CR 563) and near the Tilton Road–Delilah Road intersection. The public is advised not to be alarmed by the presence of sirens or simulated smoke, which may be visible during the drill.
“This exercise is critical to ensuring our preparedness in the unlikely event of a major emergency,” said Tim Kroll, Airport Director. “We appreciate the community’s cooperation and understanding as we carry out this important safety initiative.”
The goal of the exercise is to test and strengthen emergency response plans, communication protocols, and interagency coordination to better protect the traveling public and surrounding community.
