City of Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Sr. and City Council proudly honored longtime Atlantic City business owners Rita and Anthony Mack yesterday with the dedication of Arctic Avenue between Michigan and Arkansas Avenues as Rita and Anthony Mack Avenue.
The Macks, who owned and operated multiple McDonald’s franchises in Atlantic City for nearly 40 years, bought their first restaurant in June 1986 and continued serving the Atlantic City community until May 2024, when they sold their final location upon retiring. Throughout that time, they were pillars of the community – providing jobs, mentorship, and countless opportunities for Atlantic City’s youth. As part of the Street Dedication Ceremony, in addition to Rita and Anthony Mack Avenue signs being placed on both Michigan and Arkansas Avenues at Arctic, the Macks were presented with their own personalized street sign to take home, symbolizing their lasting impact and legacy in the city they’ve long supported.
“We are incredibly honored and humbled to receive this awesome recognition,” said Rita Mack. “The renaming of this city block to Rita and Anthony Mack Avenue is an undeniable dream for us. It’s the very block where we began our business journey in 1986, and we are thrilled beyond belief. I must say, we struck gold when we purchased our Arkansas Avenue site. But we were also blessed to find ourselves in a supportive and caring community. From the very beginning, this community has embraced and supported us in so many ways.”
City Council unanimously passed the resolution for this street dedication.
