Atlantic City Fire Chief Scott Evans was formally recognized on November 14, 2025, by  the Maude S. Walker Missionaries of Atlantic County during a ceremony held at Union Baptist Temple in  Atlantic City. 

Chief Evans received a commemorative plaque honoring his many years of dedication to public service  and his continued support of the work of the church and its role within the community. The recognition  also acknowledged the Atlantic City Fire Department as a whole and the service provided by its fire stations citywide. 

During his remarks, Chief Evans emphasized humility, faith, and gratitude, noting his lifelong connection  to the fire service as a fourth-generation ACFD firefighter. He accepted the honor on behalf of the men  and women of the Atlantic City Fire Department. 

“I feel so humbled and proud to be here and to be recognized. I accept this on behalf of the men and  women of the AC Fire Department,” Evans said. “The men and women under my command and the  work that they do every day. I love them all and I’m very proud of them” 

Chief Evans also spoke to the shared mission of public safety agencies and faith-based organizations,  highlighting their collective impact on the community and the importance of service to others. 

“I know here with this group of people, this church, you are all making a difference in people’s lives every day.” 

The plaque presentation was made by Reverend Buell Curry, Pastor of Union Baptist Temple, and  Minister Patrece Baines, President of the Maude S. Walker Missionaries of Atlantic County.
