For more than 30 years, La PizzaTega has been a go-to spot in Linwood for comforting Italian food, homemade pasta, hearty sandwiches, and perfectly crisp pizza. What started as a beloved neighborhood pizzeria has continued to thrive under owner Glen McCauley, whose passion for quality ingredients and welcoming hospitality shines through in every dish served.
McCauley’s journey with La Pizzatega began long before he became the owner. After years of working there, McCauley learned the business from the inside out. When the previous owners decided to sell, he seized the opportunity to take over ownership. Since then, he has remained committed to upholding the restaurant’s strong reputation while enhancing the menu with fresh, high-quality ingredients.
“We’re committed to quality,” says McCauley. His daily specials and variety of pizza reflect that.
From the moment you walk through the doors, La PizzaTega delivers the kind of warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes diners feel like regulars, even on their first visit. Guests are greeted with smiling faces, a menu filled with Italian classics, and daily specials that make ordering a challenge in the best way possible.
We knew we had to order a large pizza cooked well done, but there were too many tempting sandwich options to ignore. The Italian sub immediately caught my attention, while my husband was intrigued by the tuna melt, a choice that ended up being one of the highlights of the meal.
The Italian sub was absolutely outstanding. Served on soft bakery bread and layered with premium meats, fresh toppings, and quality cheeses, every bite tasted fresh and flavorful. It’s the kind of sandwich that reminds you how important great ingredients really are.
“I use an organic farmer,” McCauley explains. “He’s bringing all his produce here.”
That commitment to freshness was obvious throughout the meal, especially in the tuna melt. Even as someone who normally isn’t a tuna sandwich fan, I couldn’t resist trying a bite. Served on La Pizzatega’s signature pizza bread, the sandwich had the perfect crispy crunch while still holding together despite its generous size. The tuna tasted fresh, the melted cheese added just the right richness, and the balance of flavors was spot on. Many tuna melts can end up overly salty, but this one was light, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying.
Then came the pizza! Bubbling, golden, and exactly the way we hoped it would be. The thin crust had the perfect crunch, while the cheese pulled apart with that classic steaming slice every pizza lover wants. It was crispy, cheesy, and packed with flavor.
Our server, Daniela Espinosa, added even more to the experience with friendly, attentive service from start to finish. As we packed up our leftovers and headed back out into the sunshine, one thing was certain: La Pizzatega continues to prove why it has remained a South Jersey favorite for more than three decades.

Parking: La Pizzatega is located in a shopping center. There is plenty of parking to choose from
Quality: They only use quality ingredients. Organic local produce is delivered regularly. Everything we had tasted fresh and delicious.
Service: The staff was friendly, kind, and quick!
Would we go back? We can’t wait!
Atmosphere/Vibe: The inside of La Pizzatega gives you that Italian nostalgic vibe. You can always just grab a slice or even do a takeout order. I find it extra special to have that “fresh out of the oven” first bite. Their dining area is comfortable, especially if you can get a window seat.
Price/Value: Reasonable prices for the quality.
