One of my favorite things about exploring South Jersey is discovering the locally owned restaurants and coffee shops that give each town its own personality. While the neighboring shore towns often get most of the attention, Linwood has quietly built a dining scene worth exploring. From family-style Italian dinners and authentic Thai cuisine to cozy cafés and sweet treats, there’s something for every craving.
Whether you’re a local looking to try somewhere new or visiting before heading to the beach, these are a few of the places I find myself returning to time and time again.
Sometimes all you’re craving is a comforting Italian meal shared with family and friends, and that’s exactly what you’ll find at Sunday Gravy.
From the moment you walk through the door, you’re welcomed into the kind of neighborhood restaurant where large family tables, lively conversations, and the aroma of homemade cooking make you feel right at home. The menu features Italian favorites, including crispy calamari, homemade meatballs, fresh Caesar salads, seafood specialties, and classic pasta dishes.
As someone who almost always orders ravioli when it’s on the menu, the Lobster Ravioli is an easy favorite. Served in a rich pink cream sauce, it’s indulgent without feeling too heavy. I order it nearly every time I visit.
If you’re looking for something with a little heat, the Spicy Rigatoni is another standout. It strikes the perfect balance between creamy and spicy, making it one of those dishes that’s hard to stop eating.

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply gathering for dinner, Sunday Gravy delivers the kind of meal that feels like Sunday dinner any day of the week.
Located in the Central Square Shopping Center, Chaba Thai Restaurant brings authentic Thai flavors to Linwood with a menu full of fresh ingredients and bold dishes.
Thai food has always been one of my favorite cuisines because every meal offers the perfect combination of sweet, savory, spicy, and tangy flavors. Chaba consistently delivers that balance.
A great way to start your meal is with the Papaya Salad. It’s light, crisp, and refreshing, especially during the warmer months.
When it comes to entrées, I almost always order the Pad Thai or Drunken Noodles. While I’ve tried several dishes on the menu, those two remain my comfort food. The noodles are cooked perfectly, the sauces are packed with flavor and just the right amount of spice, and every bite leaves me wanting another.
The menu also includes curries, fried rice, stir-fried specialties, and a variety of appetizers, making it an easy choice whether you’re introducing friends to Thai food or dining with family.
Every town needs a coffee shop where you can slow down for a while, and Jessie’s of Linwood has become that place for me.

The café has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that’s just as inviting for catching up with friends as it is for opening a laptop and answering emails. I’ve spent more than one afternoon there getting work done while enjoying a coffee.
Although the seasonal latte specials are always tempting, my go-to order is an iced matcha with oat milk.
If you’re looking for something to eat, I highly recommend the Longport Toast. Topped with smoked salmon, cream cheese, and fresh ingredients, it’s filling without being too heavy.
It’s the kind of café where you can easily lose track of time, and that’s part of its charm.
Located at Linwood Country Club, Fox Den offers casual dining with one of the area’s most relaxing outdoor settings.
Overlooking the golf course, it’s an ideal spot for dinner on a summer evening or lunch with friends after a busy day. The menu features burgers, sandwiches, onion rings, French fries, and other comfort-food favorites. Sometimes simple classics are exactly what you’re craving, and Fox Den does them well.
The restaurant also hosts community events, including live music and sip-and-paint nights, giving guests another reason to stop by. It’s one of those places where the atmosphere is just as memorable as the meal.
Also located in the Central Square Shopping Center, Barista’s Coffee House is another favorite for breakfast and coffee.
If you have a sweet tooth, as I do, it’s hard to leave without ordering one of the specialty breakfast dishes. The waffles and French toast are topped with everything from fresh fruit to chocolate, turning breakfast into a weekend treat.
Along with specialty coffees and espresso drinks, the relaxed atmosphere makes it easy to linger a little longer.
It’s another reminder that some of the best neighborhood coffee shops are the ones where friendly faces and quality food keep customers coming back.
No food tour is complete without dessert, and Twist Pretzels & Ice Cream is the perfect place to end the day.
The combination of freshly baked soft pretzels and handcrafted ice cream makes it easy to satisfy both sweet and savory cravings. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic salted pretzel, one of the stuffed pretzel creations, a soft-serve cone, or an over-the-top sundae, there’s something for everyone.
One of my favorite combinations is grabbing a warm pretzel before finishing with a scoop of ice cream, especially in the summer.
It’s the perfect stop after a day at the beach, following dinner, or anytime you’re looking for a quick treat.
Everyone has their own favorite local spots, but these are the places I continue coming back to because of the welcoming atmosphere, consistently good food, and friendly service.
The next time you’re in Linwood, consider venturing beyond the familiar chain restaurants. You might discover a new favorite meal, find your next go-to coffee shop, or simply spend an afternoon supporting a local business. Sometimes the best dining experiences aren’t found in the biggest cities — they’re right here in our own backyard.
