An Egg Harbor Township man faces firearms and narcotics charges after police seized suspected THC vape cartridges, two firearms and multiple large-capacity ammunition magazines during searches Nov. 4, authorities said.
Hebereli Mejia, 19, of the township’s Cardiff section, was arrested following a long-term investigation by the Egg Harbor Township Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau.
Detectives executed multiple court-authorized search warrants, recovering what police described as a large quantity of vape cartridges containing suspected THC oil. One of the two firearms seized was equipped with an illegal silencer, police said.
Mejia was processed and taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing. Police did not specify the individual charges in the news release.
The Atlantic County Regional SWAT Team and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office assisted with the investigation and execution of the warrants.
Police said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the illegal sale and distribution of THC vape products, particularly those marketed to and sold among young people.
The charges are accusations, and Mejia is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
