A worker was seriously injured Thursday morning after a ladder came into contact with electrical wires in Atlantic City, police said.
Atlantic City police officers responded at 8:23 a.m. Sept. 17 to the area of Annapolis and Ventnor avenues following a report of an electrical injury. Officers Thomas Gilardi and Jorge Cruz found an unconscious man lying on the ground.
A preliminary investigation determined that the man had been working on a building when the ladder he was using touched electrical wires. He then fell to the ground and lost consciousness, according to police.
Gilardi initially detected a weak pulse but was unable to find one shortly afterward. He immediately began CPR and continued lifesaving efforts until paramedics arrived and took over the man’s care.
The worker was airlifted to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia for further treatment. Police did not release his identity or current condition.
