For those looking for a taste of Italy in the heart of Somers Point, Buona Vita Restaurant on Bay Avenue offers a dining experience centered around traditional Italian cuisine, warm hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Buona Vita, which translates to “the good life,” invites guests into a space reminiscent of an intimate Southern Italian villa. Tuscan-inspired décor and a warm ambiance create an atmosphere that feels both elegant and comfortable. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or enjoying a night out with friends and family, the restaurant provides a cozy setting for a leisurely Italian meal.
The menu focuses on classic Italian favorites prepared with quality ingredients and traditional flavors. Buona Vita is also BYOB, giving guests the option to bring along their favorite bottle of wine to enjoy with dinner.

We started our visit with the Risotto Primavera, a hearty dish featuring Arborio rice and sautéed seasonal vegetables tossed in an oil and white wine garlic sauce. The portion arrived in a massive bowl that could easily be shared by two people.
The risotto was cooked perfectly, with the creamy Arborio rice complemented by the fresh vegetables, which added a satisfying crunch to every bite. It was a comforting and flavorful way to begin the meal.
For my entrée, I ordered the Pollo Fantasia, and it was unlike anything I had tried before. A thin chicken breast was topped with sautéed asparagus and melted Fontina cheese, then finished with a lemon white wine sauce.
The lemon sauce was the standout for me. It added a bright, citrusy flavor that balanced the richness of the cheese and transformed what could have been a heavier dish into something much lighter and more refreshing. I could easily see myself ordering this dish again and again. The entrée was served with steamed broccoli and carrots, along with two wedges of lightly fried potatoes.
My husband ordered the Pollo Buona Vita, and it was a true showstopper. The dish featured a thin chicken breast blanketed in melted Fontina cheese and topped with Prosciutto di Parma, baby spinach, and imported porcini mushrooms. Everything was finished with a light demi-glace sauce.
And that sauce? I wish I could put it on everything. It was rich and flavorful without overpowering the other ingredients, and every bite seemed just as delicious as the last. I’m not sure I could do the sauce justice with words, so this may be one of those dishes you simply have to try for yourself. Like my entrée, the Pollo Buona Vita was served with steamed broccoli and carrots and two wedges of lightly fried potatoes.

Of course, no Italian dinner is complete without dessert. We finished our meal with a slice of chocolate mousse cake, which was smooth, decadent, and rich without being overwhelming. A swirl of chocolate sauce on the plate added an extra touch of sweetness and made for the perfect ending to our meal.
As we prepared to leave, the dining room was buzzing with conversation, laughter, and the occasional sound of wine corks popping. It was clear that Buona Vita had created the kind of atmosphere where guests weren’t simply stopping in for dinner; they were settling in and enjoying the experience.
For your next Italian dinner in Somers Point, consider adding Buona Vita to your list. With classic Italian dishes, a warm atmosphere, and a BYOB option, it’s a spot where you can enjoy good food, good company, and, as the name suggests, a little taste of the good life.
