People sometimes refer to my husband, Anthony, and me as a “power couple.” I’ve always found that interesting because if you looked at us from the outside, I’m probably the person you’d see most often.

I’m the one on social media. I’m at the networking events. I’m talking about Lift & Glitz, recording the podcast, opening locations and sharing the next big idea.

But behind so many of those decisions is someone most people don’t see. And that’s exactly what we’re talking about on an upcoming episode of the Lift & Glitz Podcast.

Anthony and I met in 2020, during COVID, through Facebook, of all places. At the time, I was coming out of an extremely difficult chapter of my life. I was rebuilding my confidence, learning to trust my own judgment again and trying to figure out who I was.

I certainly wasn’t thinking about becoming anyone’s “power couple.” But over the next six years, something happened that I think is worth talking about. I realized just how much the person beside you can influence the direction of your life.

Support isn’t always someone telling you that everything you do is wonderful. Sometimes support is someone looking at you and saying, “You’re capable of more than this.” Sometimes it’s the person who makes you uncomfortable. The person who asks why you’re playing it safe. The person who reminds you of what you’re capable of when fear starts talking louder than confidence.

Anthony has done that for me over and over again. There have been major decisions with Lift & Glitz that terrified me: restructuring the business, expanding into a second location and, most recently, taking the first steps toward franchising. There were plenty of moments when staying comfortable would have been easier. Anthony wouldn’t let me.

That’s not because he makes my decisions for me. Quite the opposite. He challenges me to think bigger, educate myself, take calculated risks and stop allowing fear to make decisions on my behalf. And I’ve realized that’s one of the greatest gifts you can have in a relationship.

A great partner doesn’t have to stand in the spotlight beside you. Sometimes they’re standing just outside of it, reminding you to keep going.

Our relationship hasn’t been perfect. We’ve blended a family, navigated careers and businesses, raised three kids and worked through our own individual challenges along the way. But we’ve grown — together and individually. That’s what I want this next podcast conversation to explore.

We’ll certainly tell the story of how we met, fell in love and built our family. But we’re also going deeper into what it means to truly support your partner, why sometimes love means challenging someone instead of simply agreeing with them, and what happens when you have someone in your corner who sees potential in you before you can see it yourself.

Maybe being a “power couple” isn’t about two powerful people. Maybe it’s about two people who make each other more powerful.

And I can’t wait for you to hear our story.
