Egg Harbor Township native Kylie Gene Wright concluded her Miss America journey Sunday after a strong showing that included two preliminary awards and $6,000 in scholarships.
Wright, who represented New Jersey in the Miss America 2027 competition, was not among the 11 contestants selected to advance to the semifinal round in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The 20-year-old distinguished herself earlier in the week by winning both the preliminary Fitness Award and Talent Award. Each honor came with a $3,000 scholarship.
For the talent competition, Wright showcased the karate skills she has developed since she was 2 years old. A second-degree black belt, she teaches at Amerikick EHT in Egg Harbor Township.
Wright also has a background in wrestling. She competed for Egg Harbor Township High School and was previously named a first-team All-Star.
Semifinalists included representatives from California, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Utah, New York, Louisiana, South Carolina, Texas, Iowa, Illinois and Mississippi. Miss Texas Regan Hutsell was crowned Miss America 2027 and received a $50,000 scholarship. Miss Louisiana Shelby Bordelon was named first runner-up, while Miss Illinois Kate Dimmett finished as second runner-up.
Wright is a business administration student at Stockton University. Her two preliminary victories highlighted an impressive week on the national stage, representing New Jersey.
