The Klemic Performance Method has opened a new 7,000-square-foot sports performance training facility in Somers Point, bringing one of South Jersey’s premier athletic development programs back to the hometown of its founder, former NFL player David Klemic.
The facility, located at 514 New Road, celebrated its grand opening June 27 with athletes, parents, coaches, community leaders and supporters from throughout South Jersey. For Klemic, the opening represented more than a business milestone. It marked a return to the community where his athletic career began.
A Somers Point native, Klemic’s success spans youth athletics, collegiate competition and the National Football League.
His athletic journey started early. As a fifth grader, he won a national long jump championship, an accomplishment that foreshadowed a standout career in football and track. At Mainland Regional High School, he became one of the school’s most accomplished multi-sport athletes, earning All-State honors in football while setting school records in the long jump and the 400-meter hurdles. His achievements earned him an athletic scholarship to Northeastern University.
At Northeastern, Klemic established himself as one of the football program’s most accomplished receivers. He finished his career holding school records that included 217 receptions and 3,419 receiving yards while earning three All-Conference selections, multiple All-New England honors and Offensive MVP recognition. He was later inducted into the Northeastern University Varsity Club Hall of Fame.

Klemic also excelled in track and field, winning eight conference championships and continuing to develop the speed and explosiveness that became the hallmark of his athletic career.
His collegiate accomplishments led to an opportunity with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he played from 2001 through 2004 under head coach Dick Vermeil. During his rookie season, Klemic won the team’s “Fastest Man” competition, defeating standout return specialist Dante Hall.
Klemic often credits his track background as the foundation for his athletic success and acknowledges the coaches who influenced his career, including Bob Coffey at Mainland Regional High School, Barry Gallup at Northeastern University, Dick Vermeil with the Chiefs and his mother, who served as his track coach and helped develop the speed and explosiveness that became his trademark.
After his professional football career, Klemic turned his attention to coaching young athletes. He founded the Klemic Performance Method in 2002, beginning in a modest 1,100-square-foot facility. Over the years, the program has expanded into one of the region’s best-known sports performance training organizations.
Unlike many traditional training programs, KPM emphasizes science-based performance testing and individualized development plans. Athletes are evaluated using measurable data to help improve speed, acceleration, power, agility, vertical jump and overall athletic performance.
Today, the program serves athletes ranging from children as young as 5 to high school, collegiate and professional competitors. Specialized training is offered for football combine preparation, speed development, explosive acceleration, vertical jump improvement and sport-specific performance for baseball, soccer, lacrosse, wrestling, basketball and volleyball.
The program’s growth has been fueled largely by referrals from athletes, parents and coaches who have seen measurable improvements in athletic performance. Klemic credits much of that success to the coaching staff surrounding him.
Josh Holsopple, director of sports performance, specializes in speed development, explosive power and human performance. Cruz Lewis oversees individualized performance plans and works closely with athletes to maximize their development. Together, the coaching staff focuses on helping each athlete reach his or her potential through personalized instruction and measurable results. The company also has partnerships with Antepes Muscle Runners, Traser, ISA Sports and Speedster Equipment, reflecting its growing presence within the sports performance industry.
Despite the program’s continued growth, Klemic remains deeply connected to the community. He and his wife, Erica, are raising their three children — Callie, Andi and Brooks — while continuing to mentor young athletes throughout South Jersey.
The new Somers Point facility represents both the growth of the business and Klemic’s commitment to investing in the next generation of athletes in the community where his own journey began.
“Our goal has always been to help athletes reach their full potential through discipline, commitment and measurable improvement,” Klemic said.
