Just over the bridge from Ocean City sits Somers Point, a small town waterfront community that has quietly built a diverse dining scene. While many visitors pass through on their way to other shore towns like Ocean City and Margate, those who take the time to explore quickly discover a town filled with local favorites, waterfront views, and restaurants that have become traditions for generations of families.

As someone who spends much of my time at the shore and grew up over the bridge in Ocean City, I’ve found that Somers Point has become one of my favorite places to meet friends, enjoy dinner with family, or grab some drinks on a summer evening. From seafood restaurants overlooking the bay to neighborhood pubs and family-owned eateries, there is something for every appetite. Here are a few local favorites that keep me coming back.
Few restaurants are as notable in Somers Point as The Crab Trap. For decades, families have gathered along the bay to enjoy fresh seafood, generous portions, and beautiful waterfront views. The restaurant has become a tradition for many shore visitors, offering the kind of classic Jersey Shore dining experience people look forward to year after year.
For me, a visit usually begins next door at Crabby Jack’s. Friends and I often meet there for appetizers and drinks before heading over for dinner. Sitting outside overlooking the water, watching boats pass by, and catching up with friends has become part of the experience. It is one of those places that immediately puts you in a summer mindset.
Charlie’s Bar has long been one of Somers Point’s most popular neighborhood gathering spots. Known for its casual atmosphere, famous wings, and signature Orange Crush cocktails, the restaurant consistently attracts both locals and visitors looking for a relaxed meal.

Whenever there is a game on television, and I am craving wings, Charlie’s is usually my first choice. The energy inside is always lively, especially during football season, and it feels like one of those places where everyone knows someone. Even first-time visitors quickly feel welcome. Whenever I bring a friend for the first time, they comment on the fun crowd and the wings, especially the sauce they are in.
Gregory’s has earned a reputation as one of the area’s most dependable restaurants thanks to its extensive menu and comfortable atmosphere. Whether guests are craving seafood, burgers, soups, salads, or classic comfort food, there is truly something for everyone.
It is often my recommendation when dining with a group because everyone can find something they enjoy. The portions are generous, the service is consistently friendly, meals are always fresh tasting, and the relaxed setting makes it easy to linger over a meal and conversation.
Breakfast is serious business at the shore, and CJ’s Corner Grill remains one of my favorite spots to start the day. The menu is packed with breakfast classics, from omelets and eggs Benedict to hearty breakfast sandwiches and lunch options.
My personal favorites to satisfy my sweet tooth are the Chunky Monkey Pancakes and the Cinnamon Bun Pancakes, along with other fun pancakes they have. They are indulgent, delicious, and worth every bite. During the summer months, CJ’s is the perfect stop before heading to the beach for the day.
No Somers Point restaurant holds more nostalgia for me than Smitty’s Clam Bar. The seasonal waterfront restaurant has been part of my family’s summers for as long as I can remember. With seating that overlooks the bay and seafood arriving fresh from the kitchen, it embodies everything I love about the Jersey Shore.
My family always orders the seafood salad and clam chowder, two dishes that have become part of our tradition. Smitty’s is also where I tried my very first clam. Even now, a visit there feels like the unofficial start of summer, bringing back memories of countless family dinners by the water.
For those looking for a more tropical atmosphere, The Point offers a completely different side of Somers Point dining. With live music, tiki-inspired décor, waterfront views, and a menu of casual beach fare, it feels like a mini vacation without leaving town.
Friends and I often meet there on summer evenings to enjoy drinks while watching the sunset over the bay. Between the music, the boats, and the relaxed crowd, it is one of my favorite places to unwind after a busy week.
Pablo’s brings vibrant energy and bold flavors to Somers Point’s dining scene. The menu features everything from tacos and street corn to creative cocktails, making it a fun option for groups and casual nights out.
I especially enjoy going with friends and ordering several dishes to share. It creates a more social dining experience where everyone can sample something different while enjoying the restaurant’s lively atmosphere.
For classic Italian dining, Buona Vita remains a longtime local favorite. Known for generous portions and a menu filled with traditional Italian specialties, the restaurant has become a gathering place for families celebrating special occasions or simply enjoying dinner together.

What I appreciate most is how welcoming the restaurant feels. Multiple generations can sit around the same table, each finding a favorite dish. It reflects the family-oriented spirit that has always been such an important part of the shore community.
Somers Point may not always receive the same attention as some of its neighboring shore towns, but its restaurant scene continues to be one of South Jersey’s hidden gems. Whether you are looking for fresh seafood, a hearty breakfast, waterfront cocktails, or a family dinner, the town offers countless memorable dining experiences.
The food is excellent, the views are beautiful, and many of these restaurants have become part of my own shore traditions. If you find yourself crossing the bridge this summer, consider stopping for a meal. You may just discover your new favorite spot.
