When a restaurant’s parking lot is packed less than a week after opening, you know something exciting is happening. That’s exactly the case at Webster’s Tavern in Somers Point, which has quickly become one of the most talked about new additions to the local dining and bar scene.
With a welcoming atmosphere, an impressive menu, creative cocktails and mocktails, daily happy hour specials, and plenty of space to gather with friends, Webster’s Tavern is proving to be much more than just another neighborhood bar.
We kicked off our visit with a pair of refreshing mocktails that immediately set the tone for the evening. The Frozen Coco Limeade was essentially summer in a glass, a creamy, tropical blend reminiscent of a virgin piña colada that was nearly impossible to put down. The Jolly Rancher Refresher was exactly what its name promised: a liquid version of the classic candy, bursting with sweet, fruity flavor.
As someone who appreciates alcohol-free options, I was thrilled to see a dedicated mocktail menu alongside the bar’s extensive drink selection.
“We want to make sure there are more options than just soft drinks,” said manager Sam Costanzo while helping staff navigate a busy Wednesday evening rush. “We have a variety of ingredients in-house that would otherwise go to waste if we didn’t offer alternatives. We can really make whatever you want.”
Of course, no meal is complete without dessert, and in my world, dessert comes first.
The Hot Skillet Cookie Sundae arrived warm, gooey, and topped with melting ice cream. The combination of warm chocolate chip cookie and cold vanilla ice cream was irresistible. Between the three of us at the table, there was a genuine battle for the final bite.
When our entrées arrived, the attentive staff made sure everything was to our liking. There was a minor issue involving a missing side of cheese for our oversized Bavarian pretzel, but it was corrected immediately, a good sign for a restaurant still finding its rhythm during opening week.

My mom ordered the Webster’s Classic Burger with lettuce and tomato. One bite was enough to appreciate the distinct flavor that comes from charcoal grilling. It arrived slightly rarer than I personally prefer, but the smoky flavor and quality ingredients still made it a solid choice. With several burger combinations on the menu, I’ll definitely be back to explore more options.
I chose the Chicken Pesto Sandwich. While it arrived a bit differently than expected, the bread differed from the menu description and the cheese was omitted, it was still flavorful and satisfying. The pesto sauce added plenty of freshness, making it an easy recommendation for sandwich lovers.
The standout dish of the evening, however, was my husband’s Truffle Mushroom Flatbread. Loaded with vegetables and layered with rich, earthy flavors, it was the clear star of the table. Every ingredient worked together perfectly, creating a dish that was both comforting and elevated.
While Webster’s Tavern is still working through the occasional opening-week hiccup, the potential is undeniable. The spacious dining room, friendly service, and impressive sports-viewing setup make it an easy contender for a new local favorite.
Sports fans, in particular, will feel right at home. Webster’s boasts more than 38 brand-new televisions throughout the restaurant.
“Any and every sport on any network we’re able to get,” Costanzo said. “Come football season, we’ll have every channel and every game that we can. We want to give people another option when it comes to sports bars down the shore.”
Their goal is simple: serve great food, pour excellent drinks, and provide genuinely friendly service. Based on the crowds already filling the restaurant, they appear to be well on their way.
Webster’s Tavern is now open seven days a week. With summer crowds arriving quickly, reservations are strongly recommended. If you’re looking for a new place to catch the game, enjoy a meal with friends, or simply see what everyone’s talking about, Webster’s Tavern deserves a spot on your must-visit list this season.
Parking: There is plenty of parking to choose from, but it may get difficult during peak busy times.
Quality: There are some first-week hiccups, but the commitment to quality is there.
Service: The staff was friendly, kind, and attentive to all our needs.
Would we go back? We can’t wait!
Atmosphere/Vibe: Webster’s Tavern strikes the perfect balance between a modern sports bar and a laid-back neighborhood hangout. With dozens of large-screen TVs, spacious seating, lively crowds, and an upbeat atmosphere, it’s the kind of place where you can catch the game, enjoy dinner with family, or meet friends for drinks.
Price/Value: The same you could expect from a shore town bar.
