Summer calls for good food, refreshing drinks, and a place that knows how to keep the energy going, and 279 Social in Galloway delivers all three. With daily specials, a creative drink menu, live entertainment, and flavorful dishes coming out of the kitchen, this local favorite is quickly becoming a go-to brunch destination at the shore.
Formerly known as Romanelli’s, 279 Social has been completely refreshed and elevated. The renovation didn’t erase the neighborhood charm people loved – they enhanced it. The result is a lively, modern space that blends laid-back brunch vibes with the excitement of a social hangout spot.
One glance around the bar told us exactly what the crowd came for: the famous, buy one, get one for $1 mimosa menu. With flavors ranging from fruity classics to tropical twists, nearly every table had colorful glasses in hand. As a mocktail lover, I was thrilled to see that non-drinkers weren’t left out of the fun. Their mocktail menu offered several standout options, including the Hibiscus Kiss, a tropical hibiscus iced tea with pineapple and lime that instantly reminded me of a summery ice pop. Another favorite was the Pomegranate No-Hito, a refreshing blend of sweet pomegranate juice and fresh mint that finished with a crisp, cooling aftertaste.
The brunch menu itself is packed with options, from flatbreads and sweet treats to hearty skillet dishes. I ordered the Garden Skillet, which arrived steaming hot with scrambled egg whites layered over vegetables and potatoes, topped with feta cheese and served alongside toast. While the skillet looked modest at first glance, it was surprisingly filling. Skillet meals are hard to find these days, and this one stood out for being flavorful, creative, and satisfying without feeling overly heavy.
My husband opted for the build-your-own omelette, a generously sized veggie-packed creation that took up nearly half the plate. Crispy breakfast potatoes and toast rounded out the meal perfectly.
After brunch, we took a walk around the restaurant to soak in the atmosphere. Everything felt upgraded and intentional. It’s the kind of place that feels equally perfect for a casual weekday breakfast, a weekend brunch with friends, or a fun afternoon that turns into live music and cocktails.
We’re already looking forward to returning for lunch and experiencing more of the menu, entertainment, and party atmosphere that makes 279 Social stand out.
