As summer brings rising temperatures and increased utility bills, the Atlantic Cape May Sustainable Jersey Hub invites residents, municipal leaders, and community advocates to an informative and timely workshop: “Sustainable Energy; Understanding Energy Costs & Saving Strategies” on Wednesday, June 25 at 6:00 PM, at the Ocean City Senior and Community Center, 1735 Simpson Avenue, Ocean City, NJ.

This free public event will bring together state and local experts to discuss escalating energy costs and provide practical resources to help residents and municipalities reduce their energy bills, save energy or utilize renewable energy through community solar programs available locally.  With utility rate increases on the horizon, the Hub aims to empower attendees with up-to-date information, program access, and other strategies to save money and power.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Brian Lipman, Director, NJ Division of Rate Counsel, who will explain the drivers behind electricity cost increases and the role of the Ratepayer Advocate.
  • Theo Banks from the NJ Clean Energy Program, sharing available incentives and tools for towns, schools, homes and businesses.
  • Atlantic City Electric and South Jersey Gas, offering insight into utility programs for efficiency and savings.
  • Greenlife Energy Solutions, sharing information about the Comfort Partners program which helps people to reduce energy use and utility bills.
  • Sustainable Jersey staff, highlighting the benefits of Community Solar programs which guarantee savings to their customers.

“This event is about more than just understanding rate increases,” said Ralph Cooper, co-chair of the Atlantic Cape May Sustainable Jersey Hub. “It’s about connecting residents with programs that can help them save money and support our shared sustainability goals.”

The evening will begin with networking at 6:00 PM, followed by speaker presentations at 6:30 PM and a Q&A session to close. Attendees will have a chance to speak with presenters and other resource providers who will be tabling at the event. Helpful handouts, including the NJ Consumer Assistance Handbook, will be available.
