Where and how to celebrate Galentine’s Day

We’re all aware that Valentine’s Day is coming up on Feb. 14, but did you know Feb. 13 is for the girls? Galentine’s Day was first introduced in the popular sitcom “Parks and Recreation” and since then, it has blown up into a cultural phenomenon.

Valentine’s Day is great and all, but have you ever had a bottomless brunch with your best friends? Enter Galentine’s Day, a holiday dedicated to celebrating the women in your life who lift you up, make you laugh and always text you back.

So, this Feb. 13, raise a mimosa and toast to the power of female friendships, because Galentine’s Day is worth celebrating.

Need some ideas on how to celebrate Galentine’s Day this year? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! The day is truly all about honoring and cherishing the incredible female friendships in your life. Strong female bonds are worth celebrating however you choose, but here’s some ideas in case you need help.

Host a brunch – Picture this, you and your girls with mimosas in hand, delicious food covering the table and laughter all around. Seems like the perfect Galentine’s activity.

Movie night – For a more chill and inexpensive option, a movie night with your girls never fails. Put on a classic like “10 Things I Hate About You” or “Clueless,” or try out a new rom-com. Grab all the cozy blankets, pop the popcorn, stock up on the chocolates and hit play on the movie you choose.

Wine night- Nothing like a wine night to remind you why female friendships are so great. This Galentine’s Day, have a simple, classy and fun wine night. Make some cheese boards to go along with the wine of your choice, throw on some pjs and talk all night with your girls.

Book date – This one’s for all my book girlies out there! If you’re a fan of Emily Henry, Colleen Hoover or just love a good romance, grab your favorite book, snuggle up with your bestie and set the mood with cozy blankets and a chill playlist. Even if you’re just reading together in silence, it’s the perfect low-key way to celebrate Galentine’s Day.

Karaoke night – Grab your mics, your drink of choice and belt out the lyrics to your favorite song. The girls won’t judge you, plus karaoke night promises a night of laughs and memories to be made.

Now that you have some easy and more chill Galentine’s Day plans in mind that you don’t have to leave the house for, let’s change it up. For those that may want to take the party outside, there are also plenty of events and themes going on all month long.

One popular spot, Queen Jayne’s, in Somers Point is bringing love to their lounge. Queen Jayne’s will be cheering for love all season long with its pop-up bar, The Royal Rose. From Feb. 12 to March 1, indulge in Valentine inspired food, cocktails and ambiance. A perfect place to take the girls, have some drinks and enjoy the scene. If you loved their Christmas pop-up, you’ll love the pop of love now!

Another must visit Galentine’s inspired bar is Bar One in Resorts Casino. XO Bar is offering a Galentine’s Sips and Sweets package for $25 per person that includes: the Cosmopolitan Bubl Shot, a choice of Cupid’s Cosmo or XO XpressO Martini and three chocolate covered strawberries. Sip, snack and chat with your girls at Resorts this Galentine’s Day.

In addition to the many bars around that are donning Galentine’s Day themed decor and drinks, there are also a lot of places hosting events in honor of the occasion.

Lift and Glitz Training Studio in Northfield, a women-only gym, is hosting a Galentine’s Gala on Feb. 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. Shop, sip and chat with the girls just in time for Galentine’s Day. This event is free and open to the public.

This weekend on Saturday, Feb. 8, head to Cardinal in Atlantic City for a Galentine’s Brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All the good vibes a girl’s brunch brings with pretty views and no messy home for you to clean up after. With a menu created just for the event, your tastebuds will be in love with these plans.

The Atlantic City Country Club is hosting a Paint and Sip on Galentine’s Day, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Sip and paint to your heart’s content and chat alongside your favorite pals and some new friends. There will be step-by-step instructions, wine, charcuterie and a cash bar. Tickets are $85 per person.

Celebrate the incredible friendships in your life, and don’t forget to show yourself some love too. After all, both Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day are about embracing love in all its forms, so make it fun and make it yours.
