The Ocean City Theatre Company and Ocean City Pops will team up to present three more performances of the hit musical “Grease” at the Bill and Nancy Hughes Performing Arts Center from August 13 to August 15 to end an eight-show run that started August 6.
“Grease” celebrates Rydell High’s Class of 1959 in all its duck-tailed, bobby-soxed, gum-snapping glory. Full of energy, charm and fun, this musical follows the romance between “greaser” Danny and the sweet new girl in town, Sandy. “Shooby doo wop” along with this iconic soundtrack of a generation. With a rock ’n’ roll book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, the show features many recognizable hits like “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightnin’ ” and “We Go Together.” Additionally, several songs from the iconic movie, including “You’re The One That I Want,” “Sandy” and “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” will be included.
This collaborative production features a cast selected through a professional audition process and the talented musicians of the Ocean City Pops. Colin Mash (Danny) and Ruby Doran (Sandy) lead the cast.
Tickets for “Grease” range from $25 to $30. Performances run August 6, 7, 9, 13, 14, and 15 at 7:30 p.m. with 2 p.m. matinees on August 8 and 15. Audience members are encouraged to travel back in time by dressing in ’50s attire at all performances.
