The Wildwoods Host the 22nd Annual New Jersey State Barbeque Championship and Anglesea Blues Festival Friday, July 9 through Sunday, July 11

Indulge in mouthwatering ribs, chicken, brisket and pork while enjoying some of the best Blues music at the Jersey Shore during the 22nd Annual New Jersey State Barbeque Championship and Anglesea Blues Festival Friday, July 9 through Sunday, July 11. The event will take place at 2nd and Olde New Jersey Avenues in the North Wildwood Entertainment District.

The three-day festival will feature barbeque teams from around the country showing off their grill skills in a quest for the best barbeque. There will be 61 teams competing for glory and 1st through 5th places in pork, ribs, chicken, and brisket. The top overall scorer will be named the Grand Champion, and the second overall score will be designated the Reserve Grand Champion. The official judging is conducted by the Kansas City Barbeque Society. The Grand Champion of the New Jersey State Barbecue Championship is eligible to compete in the invitation only world championship, the American Royale, held annually in Kansas City, Missouri.

While you are enjoying delicious BBQ, listen to the sounds of some smoking hot Blues music. The Anglesea Blues Festival features both national and regional Blues musicians and is held in conjunction with the New Jersey State Barbecue Championship. Top Blues acts are featured on the FREE outdoor main stage, as well as in neighboring clubs and pubs.

The festival kicks off Friday, July 9 with an Opening Ceremony at 4 p.m. and featured band The Outcrops from 4-7 p.m. on the mainstage. From 7:30-10:30 p.m., Billy The Kid & The Regulators take the Main Stage.

Saturday, July 10, festival hours are 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. and will include an open air market and the Best Barbecue Sauce, Best Dessert and Best Burger contests along with a Kids-Q. Guests can enjoy FREE live Blues music featuring Looseleaf from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.; the Bluestime from 1:30-3:30 p.m.; the James Supra Band with Sarah Ayers from 4-7 p.m.; and Rollin N’ Tumblin from 7:30-10:30 p.m..

The festival concludes on Sunday, July 11 with an open air market from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Judging for the 2021 Barbeque Grand Championship – conducted by the Kansas City Barbeque Society and a panel of volunteer and guest judges including New Jersey Secretary of State Tahesha Way, PHL17’s Khiree Stewart and Shore Local Magazine’s Marc Berman – begins at noon, with the awards ceremony commencing at 4:30 p.m. FREE live Blues performances continue with BC Combo from 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m..
