The Long-awaited “Mardi Gras AC” Weekly Summer Concert Series Begins.

On Wednesday, June 29 Atlantic City celebrates the opening spectacular of the free Mardi Gras AC concert parties Wednesdays, 7 to 10 pm, this summer.  The series will “Blast Off” from the Boardwalk with New Orleans Royalty “The Satchmo of the Ghetto“, James Andrews, big brother and mentor to famous international New Orleans music performer “Trombone Shorty“ Andrews.  Hailing from the famous Treme district of New Orleans, the Andrews Family (Troy “Trombone Shorty”, James and Glenn David) have become world ambassadors of the New Orleans Brass Band Street Beat, following in the legacy of Louis Armstrong.

James appeared in several episodes of HBO’s “Treme” TV Series and became even more popular and beloved in New Orleans when he and his little brother, “Trombone Shorty” Andrews performed the first live concert in New Orleans just 17 days after Katrina in 2005.

James Andrews will bring the magic and the excitement of Mardi Gras to kick off Mardi Gras AC opening night along with a serious funk fest performance of Neville Brothers, Meter, and Little Feat music and more performed by “The Prince” of the Tony Mart Family, our own Billy Walton and his Band.

James is appearing in Seoul, Korea this week to celebrate the Treme Mardi Gras legacy of New Orleans. Mardi Gras AC at the Jersey Shore is tremendously fortunate to have him appearing free as we celebrate the kickoff of the weekly Mardi Gras AC concerts.

On July 6, another living legend, Kim Wilson, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds will ride into town with their seven-piece big band review that has been headlining festivals all over the country.

Along with a founding partner in the band, Jimmie Vaughan, this is the living legacy of rockin’ Texas blues that brought us one of the greatest blues-rock guitarists of all time, Stevie Ray Vaughan.

This unbelievably free, world-class concert brings the true roots and excitement of Austin right to the Boardwalk for us to experience life!

On July 13, one of the most beloved and popular singer-songwriters, “Squeeze Box“ and harmonica players from New Orleans to Jersey and back again, Jumpin’ Johnny Sansone, will perform.

Along with Johnny will be another classic rock legend, Gary US Bonds, whose hits go back to Dick Clark and American Bandstand where he performed “ Quarter to 3” in the late 50s through to the famous “Down the Mississippi down to New Orleans” classic sing-along and the song that Bruce Springsteen wrote for him and performed with him many times, “This Little Girl is Mine”. Gary will perform all these hits and many more classic rock favorites.

On July 20 no less than the “BB King Entertainer of the Year” for 2022 and several other years, Tommy Castro will bring his killer blues-rock band, “The Painkillers“ to Mardi Gras AC. Also that night we’ll get funky with the Willpower tribute to War, Earth Wind and Fire, Rufus, Kool and the Gang and so much more.

On Wednesday, July 27, One of the most popular headliners in New Orleans music today, “Bonerama“ will bring their funky, brassy New Orleans R&B and rock ‘n’ roll to Mardi Gras. If you have never seen Led Zeppelin performed by three trombones, you should not miss this one!

On August 3, Mardi Gras continues with Flow Tribe, one of New Orleans’s most popular, high-energy, party rock bands bringing the vibe and excitement of Jazzfest right to the Boardwalk.

Mardi Gras AC rolls right through to its finale on  August 31 when the original “Eddie & the Cruisers“ multi-million selling recording artists, John Cafferty and Beaver Brown celebrate the 40th anniversary of the filming of “Eddie and the Cruisers” right here in South Jersey!
