The Heat is On

Weather with Nor’easter Nick

By Nick Pittman

Summer! Whether you’re a fan of the weather this time of year or not… there ain’t a thing we can do about it. Hazy, hot and humid. Those are the words we will be using for the foreseeable future. As long as high pressure remains in the same position we are going to have winds out of the southwest generally which pumps in the heat and higher level of humidity.

In these conditions it’s important to remember to stay hydrated. With the temps getting into the 90s and dew points in the 70s, there is a higher concentration of ozone which could lead to it being hard to breath for some. If you’re working outside, take cover in shade periodically. Also if you’re a pet owner make sure you’re keeping them off of blacktop. It can heat to close 175° within just a couple hours. Skin destruction can start within 60 seconds.

The holiday weekend will be OK, just watch out for scattered showers and storms, best chance is on Saturday. Upper 80s to around 90, a tad cooler Sunday.
