Letter from the editor

As a child, summer meant catching fireflies at dusk, collecting seashells along the shore and riding bikes until the streetlights came on. It was the simple pleasures that made those days unforgettable — moments that didn’t cost a thing but left lasting memories.

Decades later, that still holds true. My favorite summer activities are early morning walks on the beach, tending the flower garden and paddleboarding or boating on the bay. These quiet, peaceful experiences bring me the most joy — and none of them come with a price tag.

It took me years to truly appreciate it, but it’s clear now: the best things in life really are free. Like many of us, I spent a lot of time chasing the tangible — a bigger house, a newer car, the latest gadgets or designer labels. But those things never brought lasting happiness. There was always something more to want, another milestone to chase. Eventually, I realized that pursuit is endless — and often empty.

What I value most today are the experiences that foster connection — to nature, to loved ones, and to myself. Choosing gratitude over comparison, and wonder over worry, has opened the door to contentment. And for me, that’s a far more peaceful and fulfilling mindset.

This summer, I hope you’ll find joy in the little things — a cool breeze off the ocean, a good book in the shade, a heartfelt conversation, the beauty of a sunset. These are the memories that linger. These are the moments that truly matter.

Wishing you sunshine, serenity and the simple joys of summer.

Peace & Love,
Cindy
