The 1st Rhythm and Blues Preservation Society Week 2024 Was A Great Success!

The Rhythm and Blues Preservation Society completed a successful first RBPSOC Week 2024. Mr. Perry Thompson, Executive Director and Founder of the Rhythm and Blues Preservation Society, along with Rev. Dr. Sonja Elise Freeman “Queen Diva,” Artist-in-Residence and VP of Marketing and Communications, together coordinated a week of engaging fun-filled appearances in the greater Atlantic City area from February 18-24, 2024.

The week began on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the City of Atlantic City Hall Lobby for a “Meet & Greet” with Mr. Perry Thompson, Wednesday, February 21, 2024, is our official RBPSOC Day and Dr. Nina Simone’s Birthday Celebration, we presented our “This Day in Music” Lecture Series: Love, Pain and Music: Dr. Nina Simone by Mr. Perry Thompson in the Paul Robeson Library at Rutgers University at Camden, then community service was presenting pizza and drinks to the Oceanside II Family Success Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey sponsored by Cedar Food Market Atlantic City, and we ended the week at the New Jersey Music Educators Association Conference 2024 as an invited vendor by William McDevitt for the New Jersey Music Educators Association.

The Rhythm and Blues Preservation Society is excited to embark on future international campaigns for Women’s History Month in March 2024, Jazz Appreciation Month in April 2024, Black Music Month in June 2024, Blues Month in August 2024, Hip Hop Appreciation Day in August 11, 2024, Gospel Heritage Month in September 2024, and Hip Hop History Month in November 2024. We plan to reach more people who will support our cause to preserve Black music culture and our mission to spearhead African American Music Studies in colleges and universities by 2030.

The Rhythm and Blues Preservation Week 2024 is one of many programs, events, and tours presented by the Rhythm and Blues Preservation Society that are a part of our overall commitment to preserving Black music culture one record at a time within the community, colleges, and universities to ultimately create a certification and degree program in African American Music Studies nationwide.
