Business Buzz
There’s a fresh buzz brewing in Linwood — and it’s happening right along the highly traveled New Road corridor.
There is a change of the local coffee guard.
The former PJ’s Coffee & Café at Cornerstone Commerce Center has officially transitioned to a new concept, new ownership and a renewed energy that is already creating excitement throughout the Mainland community: Somers Café.
PJ’s Coffee & Café was founded in November 2023 by Wayne and Jean Heaton. The café quickly established itself as a welcoming, New Orleans-inspired coffee destination. Known for its premium Arabica blends, cold brews, espresso drinks and a comfortable, “Cheers”-like atmosphere, it became a go-to spot for professionals, residents and visitors alike. Add in fresh pastries, and it was clear the foundation for success was firmly in place. Now, that strong foundation is being elevated to the next level.
Enter Ivana and her family — the new owners behind Somers Café (formerly PJ’s Café), located at 1201 New Road, Suite 105, Cornerstone Commerce Center, Linwood.
Bringing a European influence and a passion for hospitality, Ivana has stepped in with a clear vision: build upon what was already working while infusing the café with her own unique brand, energy and community-driven approach.
With an extensive business background and a deep appreciation for customer relationships, Ivana understands that a great café is more than just coffee — it’s about connection in a relaxing atmosphere.
“Opening Somers Café is something I’ve been passionate about because I love bringing people together over great coffee and drinks,” Ivana said.
Somers Café now offers an expanded and creative menu, including iced lattes, cold brew frappes, matcha beverages, teas, lemonade and energy drinks with customizable blends. This is just the beginning — plans are already underway to introduce a curated selection of light breakfast items in the near future.
What truly sets this café apart is the family element. Ivana has built this business with the full support and involvement of her family, creating a genuine hometown atmosphere where customers feel welcomed the moment they walk through the door.
Strategically located at the Cornerstone Commerce Center, the café is positioned to serve the surrounding business community as well as residents from Linwood, Northfield, Somers Point and beyond.
The goal is simple: Create a place where people can grab a quick drink, meet a friend or settle in and work — all while feeling like they belong.
In many ways, it’s exactly what a neighborhood café should be.
