Shore Medical Center announced today that Linwood resident Gina Faragher, RN, a nurse on its ASOI/4 Whitby unit, has been named its March Guardian Angel of the Month for providing passionate and exceptional patient care. Shore established the Guardian Angel program to enable community members to say ‘thank you’ to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center in their honor.
Faragher began her career at Shore in 2011 as a Nursing Assistant on the ASOI/4 Whitby unit, and after completing nursing school, she became an RN on the unit, where she cares for stroke patients and those recovering from spine and orthopedic surgeries. Her supervisor, Elaine Toolsie, MSN, RN, CNRN, says she is a reliable nurse and always ready to fill in where help is needed.
“Gina is a morally sound, skilled and meticulous nurse. She is sensitive to our patients’ needs, and will go the extra mile to provide the care needed and to offer comfort to those who are down. She is knowledgeable and makes the job seem effortless, and is never one to complain. Through her actions, she shows her deep interest in the field of nursing.”
A patient recently made a Guardian Angel donation to the medical center in Faragher’s honor and had this to say about her:
“Gina, my dad’s RN, was so kind, caring and professional. She was very thorough when explaining to my father what labs and tests were being ordered and that they would be waking him up throughout the night to evaluate him. Gina did a great job putting my father and me at ease. Shore and its patients are very lucky to have Gina working there as a nurse on the Neurology Unit.”
Shore Medical Center’s Guardian Angel program provides an opportunity for patients and families to recognize anyone at Shore who makes a difference in their care or experience. Guardian Angels are recognized among their peers and presented with a Guardian Angel pin at Shore’s annual pinning ceremony.
