Seniors celebrate fall at SGLC

Seniors at Seashore Gardens Living Center enjoyed hands-on fall activities that promoted creativity and socialization. In an October session, the Golden Sunflowers group painted paper leaves with colored shaving cream. The seniors also enjoyed a fall mediation and shared fall jokes.
In Assisted Living, the Golden Sunflowers made calendula lavender body butter, to moisture for the dry fall weather. They also learned about reflexology and how points on our hands, feet and ears correlate with other parts of the body.
Golden Sunflowers is a therapeutic gardening group that meets regularly at SGLC. The benefits of therapeutic horticulture are numerous and include social interaction, improving motor skills, elevating mood, reducing agitation, and improving self-esteem. The Golden Sunflowers program is funded by Seashore Gardens Foundation.
Residents in Assisted Living made body butter from garden-inspired ingredients.
