OCTC Announces Spring and Summer Theatre Camps, Classes, and Student Opportunities

The Greater Ocean City Theatre Company (OCTC) is thrilled to announce its lineup of classes, camps, and youth performances for spring and summer 2025. This year, OCTC proudly celebrates 18 seasons of offering award-winning educational arts experiences for children and teenagers. At the core of OCTC’s educational philosophy is the commitment to providing a safe and encouraging environment where participants can build confidence, gain experience in theatre and public speaking, and create lasting friendships—all while having fun.

 

Registration for spring opportunities is now open, and registration for most summer camps and classes will begin on February 1. Audition sign-ups for the OCTC’s Junior Company will start on March 1. The educational lineup for 2025 includes:

 

FUTURE STARS OF BROADWAY: A Frozen Wintery Session

Join us for an exciting beginner/introductory musical theater class full of singing, dancing, acting, and fun! This high-energy class offers a frozen wintery Broadway experience and is open to kids in grades K-3. Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from February 5 through March 5.

 

FUTURE STARS OF BROADWAY: A Tribute to NYC – Spring Edition

Join us for an exciting beginner/introductory musical theater class filled with singing, dancing, acting, and fun! This high-energy class celebrates the city that never sleeps. It is open to kids in Kindergarten through 3rd grade and will be held on Wednesday evenings from April 9 through April 30.

BROADWAY BOOTCAMP: Spring Session

This program is designed for young performers looking to become triple threats! Participants will work as an ensemble to develop performance skills that build confidence for their next theatrical adventure. This class is open to kids in 4th through 6th grade and will take place on Wednesday evenings from April 9 through April 30.

 

BROADWAY COMES TO OCNJ: Masterclasses

Join us in Ocean City for a series of masterclasses featuring Broadway stars and top NYC talent! Each class will feature a specific Broadway learning experience along with a Q&A. The master classes are open to students in 6th through 12th grade. The February 23 class will feature Kimberly Marable, the Broadway Star of CHICAGO, SISTER ACT, THE LION KING and HADESTOWN. The March 2 class will feature Amanda Rose, the Broadway star of WICKED, MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, and DR. DOLITTLE. The March 9 class will feature Brittany Zeinstra, who was in the original Broadway company of THE PROM and toured the country in THE LITTLE MERMAID and MAMMA MIA. The March 16 class will focus on commercial dance and the TV, cinematic, and stage talents of Stephanie Yonkcovich.

 

SPRING BREAK CAMP: Broadway Through The Decades

Join us for an exciting adventure exploring some of the most iconic Broadway musicals from each decade! This camp is open to students in grades 2nd through 6th and will run from April 21 to April 25.

 

SUPERHEROES AND ROYALTY: Mini Camp

In this mini-camp, campers will have a blast bringing their favorite superheroes and movie musical royalty to life through singing, dancing, acting, crafts, and more! This one-week camp is open to kids in grades K through 3 (as of Fall 2025) and will take place from June 23 to June 27.

 

OFF THEIR ROCKERS: Summer Camp!

Continuing the tradition of providing an outstanding theater experience for youth, the Ocean City Theatre Company’s annual collaboration with the City Recreation Department is back. This summer camp will include acting games, song and dance activities, and trips to the Music Pier for the Tuesday morning Children’s Series, culminating in a hilarious fully-staged musical. Set in a senior center, the musical begins with a quiet and somewhat boring atmosphere. However, things take a lively turn when the Center Director decides to introduce music and dance to bring fun and excitement to the seniors’ lives. With the help of friends and family, the Director encourages the seniors to get “off their rockers” and join in on the enjoyment. The musical features nostalgic songs including Old Time Rock and Roll, The Banjo’s Back in Town, Rock Around the Clock, At the Hop, and Dancin’ in the Street. Registration begins May 1, 2025, at www.ocnj.us. This camp is runs June 30 – July 11 as is open to students in 3rd – 8th grades as of Fall 2025.

A WICKED FUN SUMMER CAMP

Our campers will have a “wicked” good time bringing to life the hit music from the Tony Award-winning stage and film production of WICKED. The camp will feature acting games, singing and dancing activities, and trips to the Music Pier for the Tuesday morning Children’s Series. The performers will defy gravity with a revue of iconic musical selections. This camp runs from July 14 to July 25 and is open to students in grades 1 through 8 as of Fall 2025.

 

A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD KIDS: Summer Camp

Join us for an exciting summer camp featuring the beloved characters from the children’s books and the enchanting Broadway musical. Adapted from the three-time Tony-nominated Broadway hit, “A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS” is based on Arnold Lobel’s cherished stories and showcases a jazzy, upbeat score filled with delightful melodies. This production combines elements of vaudeville and imagination, all wrapped in charm. “A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS” explores the enduring friendship between the main characters throughout the seasons. The camp will run from July 28 to August 8 and is open to students entering 3rd to 8th grades as of Fall 2025.

 

UNDER THE SEA: Mini Camp

Join us for an underwater adventure at this exciting mini-camp! Campers will explore the world of musical theatre while recreating iconic songs from The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, and more. Participants will enjoy activities that include singing, dancing, and acting, all while making new friends! This one-week camp runs from August 11 to August 15 and is open to kids in kindergarten through 3rd grade as of Fall 2025. Don’t miss out on this enchanting experience!

 

JUNIOR COMPANY: The PROM School Edition

Four eccentric Broadway stars are in desperate need of a new stage. When they learn that trouble is brewing around a small-town prom, they realize it’s time to shine a spotlight on the issue—and on themselves. The town’s parents want to keep the high school dance traditional, but when one student wants to bring her girlfriend to prom, the entire town faces a pivotal moment. On a mission to transform lives, Broadway’s boldest join forces with a courageous girl and the town’s citizens, resulting in a love that unites them all. Winner of the Drama Desk Award for Best Musical, The PROM School Edition expertly captures the humor and heart of a classic musical comedy, delivering a message that resonates with audiences now more than ever. This is an audition-based experience for students in grades 9 through 12 as of Fall 2025. Registration for auditions will begin on March 1, with auditions scheduled for May 3 and 4. Performances will take place on July 18 and 19.

 

JUNIOR COMPANY: THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL – Youth Edition

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea and has become the hottest star on Broadway? It’s SpongeBob SquarePants! This one-hour edition of the hit Broadway musical is brilliantly adapted from the iconic Nickelodeon series. This is an audition-based opportunity for students in grades 5 to 8 as of Fall 2025. Registration for auditions will begin on March 1, with auditions taking place on May 3 and 4. Performances are scheduled for August 22 and 23.
