By Marc Berman

Artist, Alice Mizrachi

Alice Mizrachi was born and raised in Queens, New York.  Her high school years were spent in a  school that supported the arts. In fact, it was an art teacher who encouraged her to study art and together with the support of her family, started at a very early age.

Gravitating to the graffiti culture, creating murals and making art in public spaces and the positive effect that can have in neighborhoods all around the world is where Alice concentrates.

Marc: What did you see prior to coming to Atlantic City to prepare for this incredible mural, masterpiece.

Alice: I thought about communities and families that live along side the boardwalk and the casinos and putting a positive reminder that family always comes first above everything else.

Marc: What is the title of this work?

Alice: This is titled Family First” Its about family and growth and positive reinforcements to children about what family could look like and what it might look like.

There’s symbolism in the hair, being symbolic of water and how water has memory and hold memory. Using triangles, yoni, creation, love and family.

The Atlantic City Arts Foundation exists to foster an environment in which diverse arts and cultural programs enrich the quality of life for residents of and visitors to Atlantic City.

The Atlantic City Arts Foundation has supported the creation of over 30 new murals throughout Atlantic City through their 48 Blocks AC program and this program continues.
