Mays Landing Library Branch HVAC replacement will require temporary closure

The Mays Landing branch of the Atlantic County Library System, located at 40 Farragut Avenue, will be closed temporarily as of Monday, August 26 for the installation of a new $2.68 million HVAC system and generator. The library branch is expected to reopen in January 2025.

“This is one of several HVAC replacement projects within our library system in recent years. We hope these improvements will further enhance the enjoyment of our facilities that are widely used by community members,” stated County Executive Dennis Levinson.

Partial funding for the project is provided through a NJ State Library Construction Bond Grant and American Rescue Plan monies.

Pre-construction mobilization will begin as of August 5. As a result, the four electric vehicle charging stations in the library parking lot will not be available August 5 through September 3, but will then be available throughout the duration of the project.

During the closure, patrons are encouraged to visit any of the library system’s other nine branches. Visit www.atlanticlibrary.org for locations, hours and contact information. Patrons may also access digital media services and databases 24/7 on the website.

The Mays Landing branch’s book drop box, located in the front of the building, will remain open for the return of any borrowed materials.

Despite remaining closed for construction, the library’s second floor meeting room will still serve as an Early Voting location for the general election, October 26 through November 3.
